Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park is one of the biggest national parks.  Yellowstone National Park is in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.  It has many beautiful places.  It has the Yellowstone River and the Yellowstone Lake.  One of its most famous features is called Old Faithful.  Old Faithful is a geyser.  Geysers are hot springs that shoot hot water into the air.  Hot water explodes out of the ground at a scheduled time.  

 

It is a wild beautiful area with roads, 9 visitor centers, 9 lodges, and many campgrounds. There are gas stations, restaurants, and stores.

Yellowstone National Park is in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.  It has mountains, plateaus, lakes, rivers, and hot springs.

Old Faithful is very famous.  It is a geyser.  A geyser is an opening in the ground.  Hot water shoots out of the opening.  This geyser shoots water out on a regular schedule.  Every 33 to 120 minutes, Old Faithful shoots hot water and steam into the air.  That is why it is called Old Faithful.

 

Yellowstone has many beautiful

waterfalls.  This is Crystal Falls.

 

Yellowstone has hot springs.  The hot water has tiny living things in it.  They are called microorganisms.  There are many of them.  When there are a lot of these tiny living things in one place, you can see their color.That is why the spring looks colorful.  This one is called Grand Prismatic Spring.

There are many kinds of plants in Yellowstone National Park.  There are pine trees, cedar trees, cottonwoods and aspens.  This is a picture of Aspen trees.

Yellowstone is famous for its Grizzly Bears.

Long ago, people had to hike through wild lands to see Old Faithful.  Now there are boardwalks.

Other animals that live there are elk, mule deer, coyotes, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, mountain goats, badgers, martens, weasels, river otters,bats and more.  More than 300 kinds of birds live there.

Long ago, Yellowstone was a wild place with no buildings.  Now it has 9 Visitor Centers.
